The skin is the external covering of living tissue of an animal. It is the biggest organ of the integumentary system made up of numerous layers of epithelial tissues, and guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments, interior organs. There are five basic skin care types: Oily, combination, sensitive, dry and sun-damaged. Oily skin is glossy, thick and dull colored. Oily skin is caused by over-active glands, which produce a substance called Asebum, a naturally healthy skin lubricant. Oily skin is characterized by shininess, pimples and blemishes. Oily skin is increased activity of the sebaceous glands. Adolescent are often plagued with this sort of problem and warmth and humidity can exacerbate it. As a result of excess oil being produced, the skin really shines and the pores enlarge. Oily skin can be sallow and roughing texture and tend to have large, clearly visible pores everywhere except around the eyes and neck. There is no quick solution to oily skin. The problem of oily skin has to be treated internally and may need professional medical help. In most cases oily skin is controlled but not resolved. Treatment of oily skin includes removal of surplus sebum without drying up the skin.
Regular care and appropriate treatment of oily skin can go a long way in keeping it clean and blemish free. Massage your face with upward and outward motions when cleansing it. Avoid using cleansers that tend to over dry skin. This paradoxically causes your skin to produce even more oil than usual. Using warm water to dissolve skin oil while washing it is a good treatment for oily skin. Choose cosmetic and facial care products specifically designed for oily skin. Before applying makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretions. Look for benzyl peroxide in the list of active ingredients.
Clay masks and mud masks work well for oily skin. Drinking lot of water can aid you to prevent oily skin. Tomatoes are helpful to remove the excess oil. Cucumber is another helpful remedy for oily skin. To care for oily skin you should start with a gentle, foaming facial wash. This will remove dirt and oil without stripping away moisture. Apply witch hazel to the skin which is good for absorbing oil. Make a pulp of raw papaya and apply. Papaya has a cleansing action, softening dead skin cells and aiding their removal. For oily skin, apply a thin layer of toothpaste and leave until dry.
